Fine, wavy hair is beautiful, but it’s not always easy to know how to look after it. It tends to lack volume, and its curls are sometimes unruly. However, with the right care and a few tips, it’s possible to give your fine wavy hair a healthy, vibrant look.

In this article, we’ll share some practical tips on how to care for your fine wavy hair and get the hairstyle you want.

1. The specificity of fine wavy hair

With fine hair, it’s important to redefine the waves at all costs, and to provide just the right amount of moisture and nutrition to avoid weighing the hair down.

You need to be light on the products (the equivalent of a pea) and apply the treatments to wet hair. Finish by poppling (placing hair in an absorbent towel without breaking the curls) to remove excess water and conditioner.

2. Choose the right hair care products:

For fine wavy hair, it’s important to use the right hair care products. Opt for lightweight shampoos and conditioners that won’t weigh your hair down. Look for products specifically designed for fine hair, which will add volume and texture without making it greasy. Avoid products containing sulphates and silicones, as they can suffocate fine hair and damage its health.

3. What’s the right routine for fine wavy hair?

Step 1: Pre-shampoo regeneration

All you need to do is apply the sublimating treatment mask before shampooing to nourish, moisturise and lightly regenerate your curls. It’s important to moisturise your hair, as it tends to be brittle!

Step 2: Cleanse

Première mousse shampoo thoroughly cleanses and purifies the scalp thanks to Indian powders. With plant-based glycerine, it’s gentle on your lengths.

Step 3: Beautify

To moisturise and coat your curls, apply a dab of Hair bb cream to damp hair when styling.

Step 4: Enhance

The synergy of hair oils seals in moisture to keep your hair nourished, supple and shiny all week long!

4. Avoid excessive heat:

Excessive heat can damage fine, fragile hair. Reduce the use of heat tools such as straightening irons and curling irons. If you want to style your hair, opt for heat-free methods such as braids or foam rollers. If you use a hairdryer, use a low temperature and keep a reasonable distance between the appliance and your hair.

5. Use the right styling techniques:

To add volume to your fine wavy hair, you can opt for the poppling technique, as mentioned above. Use your fingers or a wide-tooth comb to gently detangle your curls. Avoid brushing your hair once it’s dry, as this can break up curls and create frizz. Instead, use a wide-tooth comb to detangle your hair in the shower when you apply your conditioner.

6. Add volume:

To add volume to fine hair, use specific styling products as mentioned in our adapted routine. Apply them to your roots and use your fingers to distribute them evenly. Avoid applying too much product to weigh your hair down. You can also try lifting your roots slightly using a tail comb to create volume at the base of your hair.
